Pu'er tea is a variety of fermented dark tea produced in Yunnan province of SW China and easily recognised in its final form, as bricks or disc's of compressed tea. China's best and most famous pu'er tea is produced on any of six tea mountains which for centuries has produced the tea. These mountains privide the perfect climate for growing tea trees and throughout the region large tea trees exist, some over 1000 years old which must be climbed to reach the leaves. Rather like fine wine, the quality of the tea bricks increase with age as does the price.
