Angkhana Neelaphaijit is a Thai human rights activist, lawyer, Commissioner of the Thai Human Rights Commission and the wife of disappeared human rights lawyer Somchai Neelaphaijit. In March 2004 her husband was abducted by five policemen in central Bangkok and never seen again whilst he was defending a group men from the South of Thailand who were arrested on terrorism charges and claimed they were tortured in police custody.

The 5 police involved were never charged with anything more than coercion and gang-robbery as the body of Somchai Neelaphaijit was never found. Police officials also refused to share relevant records with her, citing national security, and she repeated reported harassment and anonymous threats. This case is one of many similar cases involved disappearances by security forces in Thailand and was very important for all cases involving disappearance as it would give rights to the missing person and permit the family members to proceed as plaintiffs. After 11 years this is the last court hearing possible in the Thai judicial system and the case is now officially closed.
